THE INCOMPLETE HOME OF LOVE by Daud Ismaheel Olakunle

If the looks of your eyes were
like a stream of wine. Let me
drink till I get addicted to like a
fly buzzing a palmwine's pipes.

If your smilings were like rains.
Let me be drenched and wet like
A bird that's lost her nest to a
merciless hurricane of the forest.

If your touchings were like a
Thunder clast that thuds the earth.
Let me be wrapped with and be cuddled
Like a barren that's just got a lad.

From afar I continue tracing your light
That escapes from your stunning face like
A lost astronaut in the space. Let me
Be clothed with the regalia of your enthusiasm.

The massive moon of your eyes is an ocean. Let me
Be bathed in her diamond's blazing and be drowned.
Like an amateur taking a swimming class on
On the Pacific.

A crystal red petal trapped in
A glowing light of glass, you keep
Radiating my eyes with the
brightest colors of lies .

I have traveled the whole universe. I
Have voyaged the world and its underworld.
Looking for you in where you ain't. Let
My sole be attached to where soul resides.

I have ransacked the entirety of the heaven.
Just for you to live here in this empty haven.
But, the likes of you abode only in HIS precious Eden .

My half is wearing away like the soils beside
The Nile and busy rolling Niger.
Come.
Oh! Come to complete this
incomplete home of love.

  1. I wasn't ever going to comment on love poems, but then... This is really beautiful.
Do remember to bless us with the news of her coming when she eventually arrives to complete that home, sir. BarakaaLlahu feekum.
