THE UGLY ONES by Najeeb Salaudeen

The ugly ones always refused to die
To life they refused to say goodbye
And the heros keep kissing the dust
The ugly ones betrayed our trust

Our faith in them was crucified
As a lower strata we were classified
For them we exercised our franchise
After that, they changed otherwise

Their promises, are left unfulfilled
Enjoying power, in wealth they chilled
They digest truth and feed us lies
Our tears are unseen till it dries

The ugly ones with their ugly acts
On us we never see their impacts
The ugly ones, for thieves they are
We gave them power and get a scar

We are in pain but they never care
They don't care about our welfare
The ugly ones always refused to die
To life they refused to say goodbye
