IN FRONT OF THE HEAVEN AND EARTH by Daud Ismail Olakunle

I
In the presence of the heaven that
Harbors the secrecy of Elédùmarè, I
Tingle my heart to say only your precious name
Like the hummingbird sings whenever it rains.
In the presence of the earth -the owner
Of the wicked pocket- I cantrip my mouth to
Sing only your favorite songs loudly as if
A giant stone falls on a metal gong.

II
The heaven that showers the earth with reliances in
The aesthetical cloth of rains should
Hear the beat of longingness from my slumbering heart.
Let the earth quake and move the legs of dance to
The music that escapes the cornerside soul
Of your heavenly beloved.

III
If the heaven could turn upside down and
Batter his place with the earth, I
Would turn all the stunning stars to
Your eyes and modify their lights.
If the earth could jump a little bit above and
Exchange her place with the heaven, I
Would carve all the mountains to your
Status and solidify them to live till the end.

IV
Epitome of beauty! I have been on
A voyage for your cuddling like a sojourner on
A desert longing for a droplet of water. Shower
Me and let a garment of life I make from it.
Dim not your light. For the darkness of
World could be illuminated with a look
From your gaiety eyes and retain till
Last lines of a man's walk of life.

V
In the presence of
this heaven and earth.
I close my Eyes.
I cow my life to
Keep dreaming of
your priceless smiles.
